~~~~~
We have supported the Sanctioned Contest Network and the Memphis In May WCBCC with faithful dedication since it began.
We give, they take! The expense of participating in the WCBCC in May each year
has increasingly cost Competition Teams more $$, with continued less
support in return.
Each MIM Certified Judge (if) invited to judge
at the WCBCC is required to pay $30 (or $35?) to be allowed to judge.
Now, Holt (No! I do not address him as Mr. -- Never have,
never will) has made the decision to no longer support the Sanctioned Contest Network.
SOMEONE came up with the dramatic idea to form the MBA (Memphis Barbecue Association).
Required dues of $40.00 per year.
I, personally, have not experienced any activity within this MBA thing.
Begs the question; "How many $40.00 memberships did they entice?"
Where are the benefits?
Memphis In May's only interest in the WCBCC is $$
collected for their NON-PROFIT Organization.
I have been a Volunteer with MIM since 1984; I attended one of the first Judging
Seminars to become a Certified MIM Judge (1992, I believe).
Judges support all the Competition Teams with true dedication.
Network Contest Representatives, Judges, Volunteers,
Organizers, and TEAMS pay all their own expenses; and LOVE BEING A PART
OF THE BARBECUE CONTEST NETWORK.
Speaking as a Certified Barbecue Judge, I am elated at this new "turn of events".
The dedicated group of former Memphis in May contests representatives and loyal
BBQ enthusiasts deserve our full support. This is great news for the Circuit Contests,
Teams, Judges, Volunteers, and every person involved in our continued enthusiasm
"down the Smoky Trail".
KUDOS to the group of individuals who will keep our MEMPHIS BARBECUE
NETWORK moving forward!
