First up! Unknown to many, but well worth taking notice: Madison, MS, Chapel of the Cross, A Day (Weekend) in the Country: MIM Sanctioned - Heavenly Hogs Championship BBQ Contest. Every Barbecue Team who has competed in this contest tell me they WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR! I had the privilege of being invited to Judge at their inaugural event in 2002.... and would surely dispair if circumstances prevented my being invited to return or my inability to attend. Folks, this is a TEAM CONTEST. Keith Obert and his Crew go out of their way to make sure everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is happy. You need it, you got it! Their Contest site is superb! Easy access and unbelievably spacious layout. There is a children's playground with rides and treats; activities for all ages. There is an unsurpassed Crafts Fair. Take you honey's money ladies!! Baked goods should just be applied directly to your thighs ... you can feel the calories invade upon consumption. There's always the gym next week... They make the most superb cake: (I may not remember this correctly, I'll have to verify) I think it is called the 63 EGG CAKE. Yum! Ya' got cholestrol factors to consider...stay away from it! But, do not miss the opportunity to attend this superb weekend in the country. OH! Their Tee Shirts have become one of the most sought after of any...Tie-Die, "Peace-Love-&-Pigs". After seeing mine, this year I had to take home about 10 for friends! Take the Madison Exit (just North of Jackson) off I55 and go West about 10 miles to the Chapel of the Cross Church (on the right). You can't miss it, look for all the cars!
